Cracking the Code: Constance Gennari’s Use of Colour in the Home
The season is about to change! So, what better solution than colour to change the look of your home? Let’s take a look at the use of colour in some decorative schemes that have really hit the spot. Constance Gennari decodes the colour choices in these inspirational interiors taken from our features. It begins with the so-called “Rule of 3”! Three is the key! Which means: no more than three shades in one interior. An idea that was applied by those who inspired the founder and artistic director of The Socialite Family and is shown in practice in blogger Stéphanie Zwicky‘s living room with her brick-red, green and brown velvet sofa combo. Because don’t forget that your acquisitions must – in one way or another – also marry up with the shades you choose! We can also see it in Sabina Socol‘s living room, where a sea-green wall highlights the mustard yellow of her sofa and the faded red of her Berber rug. For the truly daring, and artists at heart, do as Daniele Daminelli and Guillermo Santomá have done: let the colour express itself! This makes perfect sense when it is used from floor to ceiling, just as it does in a corridor or a defined space in your home. Like architect Stephanie Lizée‘s entrance hall, dark and deep in its British racing green or the vibrant, natural plum colour of one of the rooms in the shopkeepers, Odin and Archibald‘s home. The idea is to create a strong, striking setting! Finally, a must for consideration: the combination of light shades in contrast with dark ones, like that interior designer Ornella Abouaf has used in her kitchen.
